The Village of Wellington is located within Palm Beach County, Florida in the United States of America
(USA). Our climate is fairly dry in the winter with occasional rain during the summer. The typical
summer temperature ranges between 72 and 92 degrees farenheit, while the winter temperature ranges
between 55 and 85 degrees farenheit.
Since our founding by Charles Oliver Wellington
in 1951, Wellington, FL has grown from a small area of west land to a thriving
community. The Village of Wellington was incorporated December 31st, 1995 by the
Acme Improvement District. Today, Wellington, Florida is a community of more than 40,000
full-time residents and has a projected population of over 55,000 by 2016.
Wellington, Florida has over 1,400 acres of recreational land and parks, over 74 miles of
canals, 315 acres of lakes and over 161 miles of roadways. Wellington, FL is
frequently referred to as "the winter equestrian capital of the world" by
equestrian enthusiasts and is known by them for our many horse trails and family
parks.
Wellington has a Village Manager, a Mayor and 4 council persons that make
decisions and direct its affairs. Wellington has a "weak" mayoral system of
government, meaning that all decisions are ultimately executed by the Village
Manager, whereas the Mayor plays more of a ceremonial role and chairs the
bi-weekly Village Council meetings.
